Second 2 None MMA Goes Out With a Bang!

Second to None finale was second to none!
by Raashaan Myers
Saturday evening was a great night for the guys at Second to None as they closed the curtain with the final MMA event they will showcase in front of a capacity crowd at Expo Five. As always there was a large and loud contingent from both Derby City MMA and Bad Dog MMA and their supporters went home happy.
In the two featured bouts of the evening friend of ME Sports and Bad Dog bad boy A.J. used his Main Event Mojo to walk away with his first ever amateur title in a grueling 5 round distance victory. Fighting against the tallest competitor he has faced in the octagon A. J. needed equal parts of skill, toughness, and determination to make his title dreams come true. Utilizing his considerable mat skills and a relentless attacking style he wore down his opponent by keeping the pressure on and attacking from all different angles. Yet with the victory A.J. says this is still only the beginning "I just want to continue to work on my overall skill set and improve as a fighter."
In the second featured bout of the evening; the only professional fight on the card; Derby City MMA would have their opportunity to make some noise as their best fighter would be take on a tough and rugged opponent from Illinois. It was clear why these guys are professionals as there was definitely a step up in the speed, power, and skill in which they tangled in the octagon. Both men were very evenly matched going 3 rounds before the home grown kid from Louisville was able to get the submission victory and a benchmark win for Derby City MMA.
All in all this was a great night for the city and for local MMA in Kentucky. The crowd was jumping, the music was loud, and the action was intense from start to finish. We look forward to more quality action upcoming from all of the talented fighters we have here locally but for this evening it was all about Bad Dog and Derby City so congratulations and great job to all the competitors.
